The Moditlo Wildlife Estate and Private Game Reserve is 3,200 hectares in size, and is situated in the Blue Canyon Conservancy which is 12,000ha in size. It is located 12 kilometers from Hoedspruit in the Limpopo province, between Hoedspruit and Klaserie on the R40 to Nelspruit. This area; known as the Valley of the Olifants; is superbly located just 30 km from the Kruger National Park, and borders Kapama Game Reserve to its eastern side, the Drakensberg Mountains to its west, and falls into the southern/central region of the Greater Kruger biosphere.
Moditlo is made up of three farms namely Moria, Hoedspruit and Riversdale, and consists of two distinct types of eco-zones; the Thornyveld found in the northern part and the Bushwillow woodlands found in the southern part. The reserve boasts the ‘Big 5’ including a number of other wild game species such as cheetah, hyena, wild dog, black-backed jackal, kudu, giraffe, impala, duiker, bushbuck, and nyala. Two perennial rivers run through the length of the Reserve providing attractive riverine habitat with magnificent trees such as Weeping Boerboon, Jackalberry, Sycamore Fig and Ana trees. The bushveld plains comprise of Combretum and Marula type veld mixed with acacia and large well grassed areas. The excellent diversity of the habitat provides some of the best and most attractive ‘game country’ in the area.

Moditlo is conveniently situated 12km from Hoedspruit International Airport (Eastgate Airport), which can handle all aircraft currently known to aviation. Flights run twice daily from Johannesburg to Moditlo, with a quick flight time of only one hour. You can also opt to take a train or even drive by car or bus to Moditlo from Johannesburg, and absorb the beautiful and stunning scenery along the 4 ½ hour journey.
SECURITY
Excellent 24-hour manned security offers owners peace of mind and allows a lifestyle of hassle-free living, as a permanent residence or as a ‘lock-up-and-go’ investment. All homeowners are required to carry access permits on their vehicles, and visitors need arranged permission to enter the estate. Temporary permits can be arranged for visitors that are staying overnight while day visitors must sign in at the gate.
ARCHITECTURAL GUIDELINES
Architectural guidelines are in place and are aesthetically designed to reflect a game lodge “look and feel” to the estate. Thatch and Harvey tile roof structures are allowed and there is no time frame in which to build. A Homeowners Association exists which runs the Estate following the Homeowners rules. These include protection of the environment, ensuring the estate is as quiet and undisturbed as possible, with guidance on other items such as the ability to do long term rentals and consolidation of stands.
COMMERCIAL AND PET POLICY
To ensure the undisturbed and peaceful feeling of the estate, the Homeowners rules don't allow for domestic pets, nor any commercial usage of the homes.
